AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Thumpetty Thump Thump!  With a corncob pipe and a button nose, and two eyes made out of…. chocolate chips?  No wait, that’s not how the song goes.  But that’s how this pint-size snowman is bringing a big dose of merry today!  Our Christmas cake inspiration continues The 7th Cake of Christmas.  A jolly DIY cake from Miso Bakes!  This adorable little guy is much smaller than he appears.  Made from 4? and 6? rounds, this Mini Merry Snowman would be a great activity to share with your little ones.  He’s made of cake but the children know how he came to life one day….

Four 6-inch Cake Layers

Chocolate Chips
Two Skewers
Mitten Cookie Cutter
Sugarpaste / Fondant (orange, brown and red)
Six dowels
Royal Icing and Additional Embellishments {optional}

Here’s what you’ll do a few days before:

Cover skewers with brown sugarpaste.  Leave an inch at the top uncovered for the mittens.Roll out red sugarpaste thick. Cut out a pair of gloves or mittens with cookie cutter.  Slide on to skewer.  Leave out to dry.  {Optional: use white royal icing to pipe on fun details like stripes, snowflakes and dots.}Roll orange sugarpaste into the shape of a carrot. Slide in a toothpick so it can be attached to the face.  Leave out to dry.Bake cakes.Make icing.

Here’s what you’ll do the day of:

Stack, fill and cover the 6-inch layers in white icing.  Repeat for the 4-inch layers.Carefully cover the icing with shredded coconut.Insert dowels into the 6-inch cake and stack 4-inch cake on top.Roll out sugarpaste about 18? long.  Cut into a strip for the scarf.  Use only one red strip for a solid scarf.  Or add a smaller strip of white (on top of the red) for a striped scarf.  Wrap around ‘neck’ of snowman. {Optional: add small red berries and green holly leaves for an extra touch}.Insert carrot nose.Use chocolate chips to create eyes, mouth and buttons.Insert arms last or after transportation.

If you want to be a rock-star mom, prep several of these cakes and let your little ones assemble their own snowman.  Kids of all ages would enjoy covering the snowman in coconut and adding the eyes, nose, arms and scarf.  Older children would enjoy piping the mitten details as well.  What a fun alternative to the traditional gingerbread house!  And in the end, you’ll have your own hillside of snowmen.

Allison shared a few thoughts about her Winter White design:

“I wanted it to be light and airy – reminiscent of snow but not actually mimicking it. The white blossoms are subtly shaded to add a little more depth and movement. And the red ribbon breaks up the white a bit – also making the cake more festive for the holiday season.”

Santa, Penguin, Snowman Cake

Okay, I know you’re squealing!  This cake is almost too cute for words.  Each tier is a charming cake all on it’s own.  Mr. Snowman with his intricate knit scarf.  Jolly Santa with his rosy cheeks peeking out from behind his beard.  Mr. Penguin with his stocking cap and dotted eyes….. the detail on this cake is incredible!

Santa, Penguin, Snowman Cake
Sheryl shared a few thoughts about the inspiration for her adorable design:

“The inspiration behind this cake is a collection of stacked cookie tins I chanced upon while Christmas shopping.  There were so many gorgeous designs that it was impossible for me to pick just one.  There were variations of Snowmen, Penguins, Santas and I wondered why couldn’t I have one with a combination of all 3.  In the end I went home without any purchases (I am a very fickle shopper…hahaha) but in my mind I knew that I could have my own version of the stacked cookie tins, even if it’s only cake.”

We are incredibly glad that Sheryl chanced upon those cookie tins because they inspired her to greatness.  Every time I look at this cake, I spot something new to love about it.  Talk about attention to detail!  Such a delightful design from a cake artist we’re sure to follow and love!

Mario

Happy Mario

Happy Mario

Happy Mario

First of all, I find an image of the face of Mario and it enlarges until I was happy with the template to be used on the face are Bob of Wilton the Pan Builder.

I used the color flow method to the facial features, which allows time to completely dry before you start on the cake.

I used the document template of the face to put on Bob bakery cake Builder to mark off the coast where I needed to stop, decorated with colors of Mario work equipment and then frosted the rest of the area before placing the flow of color face.

After Mario cake, I narrowed the pattern of small size and made decorations similar to put on cakes color workflow.

Longhorn Graduation cake

by Katie
(Austin, TX)

I made this cake of graduation of the guardian of a friend, who was a graduate of the University of Texas.

It is a white cake with an almond-flavoured Italian Meringue frosting. The decorations on the highest level are basing.

I used longhorn cookie cutters to cut the longhorns and made of black based graduation caps, then used an extruder of clay to make the tassles and their painted with a mixture of luster and vodka gold dust.

If I could do so again, I would cover the cake on basis. The amount of colour that I had to use to get the burnt orange color gave the glaze off taste, in my opinion. (Then, maybe that was just me because I was looking for a flavor off)

In collaboration with Fondant

Work with based on the can be an easy alternative to cake decorating. It can also be combined with technical traditional cake to make it look the great cake decoration. All that you need to do is learn a few basics of the basis and practice, as all about cake decorating.  It can be fun once you get blocked it!

Fondant is made of powdered sugar, water and corn syrup. Flavour can be added as well. Covering a cake with fondant in the you can give it a flat surface smooth. Based on the looks like working with clay. It will serve as forms, can be put in service, cut with tailors of cookie, twirled around the wooden pegs to ribbons and enough well trained in whatever decorations your imagination comes back with.

I love Wilton cake most of things except for their decorative fondant. It may be easy to work with, but it has a bad taste, that you will finish by peeling it off the coast and eat the cake itself. Them there was nothing wrong with that, but I love the mixture of a great tasting icing and delicious cake mixed. There are a few options for better tasting fondant if go you with ready made. My Favorites are the ice Satin and Fondarific. Here is what they look like...

There are several fondant icing recipes that will make a cake in great flux.

Now that you've learned on the basis of what is and you have your store purchased or recipe for homemade fondant icing fact and ready, it is time to learn a few basic cake to the technical basis of decoration and start to work with based on the.

This cake is made of cake and vanilla frosting. It is on two levels. The lower level is two 8 "Tower of cakes with icing in the Middle, and the helmet on the top level is two 6" Tower of cakes with icing in the Middle, which I have cut out in the form of a helmet.

I made this for a friend's birthday, and it is their favorite football team. It is frosted and completely decorated my madeleines frosting. I used only Marshmallow Fondant to stripes and logo of the helmet.

The mask is the non-edible portion of the cake, I used the wire to the shape and then covered it with fondant to the. Nothing on the cake was traced and everything has been redirected on the hands-free. I really enjoyed making this cake and I am really happy the result!

November 15, Fred Flintstone

(Nampa, ID)

It is a marble of 1/2 sheet cake. Decorated glazing. Fred Flintstone is a transfer of frozen frosting.

It is only the second transfer frozen I did and I think that it is a technical pleasure! The cake was for a birthday party on night of League bowling. Their team dressed up as the flintstones, Fred so doing his favorite sport, was just the ticket. They loved it!

I do cakes for fun. I say people who want that they are finally home made! If you want a professional looking cake, better go elsewhere!

Nov 30, Tinkerbell Birthday Cakes

tinkerbell cake topper

You can get very creative with Tinkerbell birthday cakes, but the main thing to consider is the amount of time that you’re going to need to put into getting the cake decoration right.

When you’re making a themed cake, don’t underestimate the amount of time you’ll need to plan and ice the cake. You should also give yourself time to make a couple of test runs beforehand so that you’re not panicking about spoiling the actual cake.

It’s easy to find any number of different ideas for Tinkerbell birthday cakes, so you’ll need to think about what your daughter would enjoy the most out of her cake. The big question to ask is why the birthday girl likes Tinkerbell, and there are three main reasons, and thus three main cake designs, that she can choose:

She’s a pretty fairy – if this is the answer you get, then you need to think about Tinkerbell birthday cakes that just focus on her. This could be a 3D model of Tinkerbell or an iced picture on top of a fondant cake. Cakes that represent people standing up are notoriously hard to get right, but the best way to approach the problem is to put her in a big ball gown that will give you a steady base to build up from. The torso and head can be stuck onto the central cake with icing or jelly. The arms can be tricky, so it’s best to bake these as part of the torso, and make them small enough that they don’t weigh too much. Add a final touch of a wand and cover with the whole thing with edible sparkles for that fairy touch.
See more help on making a doll cake.

She’s part of the world of Peter Pan – Tinkerbell is part of the Neverland group of characters, so if you’re feeling ambitious you could try making a miniature diorama on top of a fondant cake. Use solid colored icing as building materials for your landscape and make sure that you make the characters big enough that you can add detail to their faces and clothes, which will make them instantly identifiable to your children. Be sure to include parts of the story like the pirate ship and the ticking crocodile in the landscape. This is one cake that you’ll need to draw and plan the layout before you even bake the underlying cake

She’s magical – this is probably the easiest option out of the three Tinkerbell birthday cakes as it gives you a free reign with things like stars, fairy dust, and magic wands. This is a good choice if you don’t feel confident creating actual characters and faces and will work best as a flat picture on top of an iced cake. Try to use dark green and gold as your color themes for Tinkerbell’s dress and the color of her wand.

The most important thing about Tinkerbell birthday cakes is to get some input from your child. This will form the centerpiece of their birthday celebrations, so you’ll want to make sure it’s something that she’ll enjoy looking at and showing off to her friends. If you’re making it yourself, you might want to ask if your child wants to be a part of the design and decorating team which will be a great way for you to recognize her upcoming birthday and the increased responsibilities it will bring.
