Oct 15, Toy Story

This was a Chocolate and Yellow cake. I made it for my grandson Jose for his 3rd birthday. The cake was crumb coated using Sharon Zambitos buttercream recipe.

Then I used Satin Ice fondant to cover. I made all the figures from a 50 gum paste and 50 fondant mix. For the bottom tier I cut out some monkeys from a template I made and placed them on the cake touching each other to make it seem that they were all cut out at the same time (used chocolate fondant).

I made some of the fondant/gum paste figures looking up and placed them on the cake as if they were looking up at Woody and the number 3 also made out of gum paste and colored with glittering dust.

I made a sign and its was held by the dinosaur and the horse. The potato man by Buzz was made by my 10 year old granddaughter. It took me two weeks to make the figures, I have a full time job so I do this in the evening when I get home.
I had a lot of fun doing this cake and my grandson loved it, so do my other grandkids. I have 11 of them.
